Announcement: Toronto Ukrainian Festival 2011

The Verkhovyna Ukrainian Song and Dance Ensemble has accepted an invitation to perform at the 2011 Bloor West Village Toronto Ukrainian Festival this fall.  The festival is a celebration of Canada’s diversity, and has established itself as one of the premier Ukrainian festivals in North America. The Festival takes pride in showcasing contemporary professional and amateur artists and performers of Ukrainian heritage who celebrate Ukrainian culture through music, dance and visual arts.

To celebrate both the 120th anniversary of Ukrainian Settlement in Canada, and the 15th anniversary of the festival, Verkhovyna will be presenting an abbreviated version of their show, The Letter.  The performance is an emotional and colourful musical and dance journey through the pages of Canadian-Ukrainian history.  Thank you to Buduchnist Credit UnionCelebrate Ontario and the Canadian First World War Recogntion Fund for the support necessary to make this performance possible.  We are very excited for this oppurtunity to help Canadian Ukrainians rediscover a bond to their roots and heritage.

Please celebrate Ukrainian culture with us and over 500,000 other Ukrainians this September 16-18 in the heart of Toronto.

Canada's National Ukrainian Festival 2011

The Dunai Dancers recently had the great oppurtunity to perform at Canada's National Ukrainian Festival in Dauphin, Manitoba.  On July 29, 30, and 31st, the ensemble proudly presented five of their dances at Selo Ukraina's 11,000 seat hillside amphitheatre for the 46th edition of the annual festival.  The group's spirit shone brightly when a technical difficulty caused their music to malfunction.  Dunai completed the dance, with the help of a beat provided by the applause of the audience!  Thank you to all of the organizers who made both the festival and trip a reality.  Special thanks to our excellent bus driver, Lloyd. We hope to return to Dauphin very soon!
